L-Arginine
Two hundred milligrams, the joint largest figure on this panel, and the raw material your blood vessels use to make nitric oxide.
The largest entry on the panel, shared with the AKG form. Your body turns it into nitric oxide, the molecule that tells a blood vessel to widen.
What it is
A conditionally essential amino acid. Your body can make some of its own, and usually makes enough, but under stress, injury or rapid growth the supply falls behind what is being used. That is what conditionally essential means: essential some of the time.
What it is doing on this label
It is the substrate. An enzyme called nitric oxide synthase, sitting in the cells that line every blood vessel you own, takes arginine and turns it into nitric oxide plus citrulline. No arginine, no nitric oxide, and this whole formula is built around nitric oxide.
The catch worth knowing
A meaningful share of swallowed arginine never reaches general circulation. An enzyme called arginase in the gut wall and the liver breaks it down first. That is why this label also carries citrulline, which slips past the same enzyme and is converted to arginine further downstream.

On the panel it reads
L-Arginine (base) — 200 mg
No daily value established
Where it turns up in food
Poultry, pork, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, soy, chickpeas, lentils and dairy. Protein foods carry it in quantity, which is why a mixed diet supplies several grams a day without anyone trying.
About L-Arginine
Why is arginine listed twice on the panel?
It is not, quite. One row is arginine on its own and the other is arginine bound to alpha-ketoglutarate in a two-to-one salt. Two hundred milligrams each, and they are declared separately because they are different materials.
Is 200 mg a large dose?
Not against the several grams a day a mixed diet supplies, and not against the amounts used in the research people quote. Against other once-daily capsules on the shelf it is an ordinary figure, and here it is one of two arginine rows.
Does the body run out of it?
Rarely, in a healthy person eating protein. The interesting question in the literature is not whether people are deficient but whether extra changes anything, and that is a question with an unsettled answer.
